Brendan Rodgers
No, not another “New Manager thread” (Yet) but saw his comments after his sides collapse at Stoke, nice to see a manger acknowledge his side were awful and an embarrassment to the club and fans, and then go on to say he would leave if the owners wanted that after his sides performances of late, got to give the bloke respect for that and refreshing to hear a manager not make excuses, blame the ref, injuries etc.

BUT, if he did become available, then would be happy to see him with us.

http://www.espnfc.co.uk/liverpool/story/2464955/brendan-rodgers-if-the-owners-want-me-to-go-i-will-go

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers conceded that his side were "very poor" in the 6-1 defeat to Stoke and claimed that if the club's owners Fenway Sports Group want him to depart, then he will.

The Reds' failing campaign was encapsulated in 45 minutes with Mame Biram Diouf scoring a brace, Charlie Adam, Jon Walters and Steven Nzonzi also on target before the interval -- the first time Liverpool had conceded five first-half goals in top-flight league since 1976 against Aston Villa.

Steven Gerrard pulled one back on his last appearance for the club but substitute Peter Crouch made it 6-1 late on and Rodgers was left to reflect on a terrible day for his side.

"I have always said if the owners want me to go I will go. But I still feel I have a lot of offer here. There is a lot that's happened there this year that has made the job tough. Performances like today don't help me and I'm fully aware of that.

"We made too many mistakes defensively and individually. We were beaten too easily and were not competitive enough. We were very, very poor in that first half.

"It was always going to be a big job in the summer and today's result would certainly ratify that. We understand the job ahead and we will be much better than today going forward.

"We have got to be much better than we have been for the last six or eight weeks. We will work tirelessly to look to put on a better show next season."

A run of eight points from their final nine matches saw the Reds drop to sixth, eight points off Champions League qualification -- the target set by the owners at the beginning of the campaign.

"For everybody connected with Liverpool, we are all embarrassed by that today," he added. "We have to be much better than that. They (the fans) deserve an apology.

"They were angry at half time -- and rightly so -- because that was awful, absolutely awful. The only way you'll get support from them is by winning games, and we haven't won enough games."

No thanks, Rafa to Madrid, Ancelloti to Scouse...I see, rather have Redknapp on a one year rolling. Better still get Brooking in if he will do it.

As far as I'm concerned I would make him my number one choice done wonders at Swansea with hardly any money plays a style of football that would suit most of the fans.Just dont think Liverpool will sack him.

We'll let's have it right, it wasn't a spanking from Chelsea, Man City or Arsenal. Fucking right he should come out and be honest.

Not even Rodgers can spin it round and blame the loss on Suarez leaving last summer.

Re: Brendan Rodgers
I wouldn't have him at West Ham either and to be honest i don't think he would come anyway. Don't forget even after such a shocking season Liverpool still finished six places and a bunch of points ahead of us. If he leaves Liverpool I can see Klopp going there, while we might get Ancelotti but more likely Bilic if reports and betting are to be believed.

Re: Brendan Rodgers
It's always a difficult thing to take a failed manager from a 'bigger' club. We made that mistake with Avram Grant.

It is my experience that people that come 2nd at the top invariably but not always, come 2nd when they drop down a level...

Re: Brendan Rodgers
It's clear Rodgers can't be trusted with money and it seems a number of players don't have any belief in him.
Gerrard leaving and possibly Sterling too will leave Liverpool in a mess unable to attract top players and losing the few players who prop them up every season. Gerrard was top scorer this year despite not playing every game and being surplus to Rodgers plans.
Always comes over as having a big ego and thinks he is better than he is. It's clear top players are neither attracted to his teams or thrive in them.

Maybe next season or getting the push will knock him down a few pegs.

Re: Brendan Rodgers
100% Id have him.

He bought badly last summer and has had injury problems. Of course all teams get injury problems but when you have to sell excellent striker and get an injury to your other one then the season will always be a struggle.

Mistakes were made this season as well, no doubt about it, but I think he would be great for us. In fact i struggle to think of a gettable manager that Id prefer

Bought badly? That is being really Polite, Ballotelli as a replacement for Suarez was the single most appalling piece of business of last season. And for that I'm OUT.

Re: Brendan Rodgers
Plays decent football but his stock was inflated way beyond it's due, thanks to Suarez being on fire for a season.

He's a good manager, but I just can't warm to the smarmy cunt, so it's a no from me.

Re: Brendan Rodgers
Liverpool adopt the moneyball philosophy with transfers so I'm not certain that rodgers was solely responsible for transfers

Allardyce adoptee the MoneyCurtis philosophy with transfers so I'm certain he was solely responsible for lumbering our club with shit until sullivan stripped him of any involvenent with the cash
